Oakura School Beach Clean

Oakura School took part in the annual Beach Clean on Tuesday. It was a successful and enjoyable day for all. The Junior pupils walked to Corbett Park and collect rubbish on and around the fields. We found lots of interesting pieces of rubbish including a golf ball.

We are pleased that the hard plastics we found will be used by a local youth organisation called Transformers who will look at ways to recycle the hard plastics.

Everyone enjoyed a scrumptious sausage sizzle donated and cooked up by F.O.O.S (Friends Of Oakura School) volunteers. Thank you F.O.O.S.

A big thank you to the parents who helped us with the beach clean!

Discover Time - Weaving

Friday was our first Discover Time this year. The Junior team's focus during the session was one of our school values; Respect/Pono. During the morning we had the opportunity to show respect to each other and our environment through play and creativity. We created weaved placemats with Māori designs, paper wakas and contributed to a Junior Kahu huruhuru (feather cloak) by decorating a feather. Check out some of the weaved placements below.
